Sondheim's "Company" - illustration and poster

I created this illustration and poster design for YMTC Berkeley for their production of Steven Sondheim’s musical comedy, Company. The whole thing was drawn digitally with my tablet, to be printed as both 11"x17" posters and smaller postcards.

This was my first piece for this client. I was really excited to play with 1970's color schemes.

Directly above is the sketch that was picked to be turned into the final. Besides refining the colors, textures, drawing, etc., I ended up adding in a figure to represent the lead, Bobby.

Here's the background of just Bobby's apartment, including a lime green shag rug. So jealous.

And a detail of the view outside the window.

Below are the three other sketches I submitted, all having variously to do with singledom, coupledom, New York City, heavy drinking, and 1970's style.

And finally, below is the illustration with the text laid out over it.
