mulan illustration, folio 2: mulan at her father's bedside

Another folio from my Mulan project. Mulan visits her ill father, knowing that he's too sick to go to war. (Also, there are kittens.)

Again, above is the latest, full-size version, 14" x 28", watercolor. Except that the blankets on the bed are a disaster, and are making a dozen different planes, none of which appear to rest on the man's body, or even on the bed itself. So I'll be doing this one over.

And here is the smaller sketch, with less interesting patterns and a floating cat, but at least the space makes sense.
